I have collected examples of classic Japanese wallets. Handmade leather accessories are very popular in Japan, Hong Kong and South Korea. They have their own unique style and craftsmanship traditions.
In the answers, I will show you interesting wallets made by Japanese and Korean leather craftsmen. I would be grateful if you could add other Asian-style wallets to this list.
I made a selection of stylish handmade Japanese style wallets. These are long-wallets, bifolds, zip wallets made by masters from Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand. These wallets are characterized by smooth curves, zipper pockets, eyelets, chains and other decorations.
I’m sure everyone would agree that the leather craftsmanship of Japan and Korea is different from that of Europe. I would greatly appreciate it if you could add other Asian-inspired wallets to this list.
In my opinion, the Japanese and Koreans are the best at working with leather. They have their own unique style of leather accessories. I’ve always wanted to learn leatherwork from a Japanese master. For now, I have to make do with PDF scans of a Japanese leatherworking book that I found online.
